Create a Habitat

Create a Habitat

So, in the past weeks, LH1 students have been planning and creating a habitat for a animal.

I was in the Make It group. I worked with Vristhi and Jahnavi for our habitat. Our animal was a Bat.

Firstly, we had to choose, if we were working by ourselves or with a group. I decided to work with a group since the word Collabaortive was our main word for Term 3.

Vristhi and I first searched up facts about Bats. The kind of bats we were doing were Fruit Bats. Vristhi and I then wrote all of our information on our fact file which is a sheet of paper that we write on about our animal which helps us with our habitat.

We also drew our plan of our habitat and wrote down our things that we needed to bring or buy.

Jahnavi then came to LH1. She was the newest student here and Vristhi and I asked Mrs Dillner if she could join our group for making our habitat. We explained everything to her and told her what we were up to.

We then started painting our box and started making our tree. We also painted the tree brown and added pieces of green paper and hot glued it on the top of our weird looking tree. We then glued the tree into the bow and we then started making some fruit out of clay but they didn't turn out so good. We then just decided to use form and cut out shapes for the fruit and paint then. We made a cave out of cardboard and put it into the box near the tree and painted it brown and we dried brush it black and silver. It looked really cool!. We lastly made a mini pond by cutting a weird shape out of the form and painted it light blue and added a hint of white and dark blue.

We dried brushed the outside of the box with brown but it looked weird, We just ticked with it anyway.

Jahnavi made a cute little bat out of pipe-cleaners and we painted it black. and we hot glued it onto the part sticking out which is for the bat to hang on.

On Monday, Week 7, some of us presented out habitat while the others went around with post-its that they had to write and give to the presenter.

I was with Sanyia!!

I'm really proud of the people that made their habitats in time!!

  2. Hi Jasmine,
It sounds like you girls really collaborated well. I was sad that I had other comittments that day and missed the presentations. Did you get #oresome feedback? What would you do differently next time?

Thank you for this lovely comment.
And yes I did got oresome feedback. What I would do differently is that Vrishti, Jahnavi and I should have plan a head because I wanted to add more to our fact file.
I really liked Vrishti, Jahnavi and I were collaborating we each other.
