Learning Observed

The group of girls, Taanvi, Kavisha, Jasmine and Anjli, worked collaboratively together to make this fundraising event a success.  They raised money for hospice and PE equipment.  It was quite an involved iExplore and it was great to observe the girls work through and negotiate the conflicts that arose along the way.  It was great to see Jasmine take charge of the spreadsheet where they connected with maths in determining how much of each ingredient they needed to make the quantity of batches they wanted to sell.  There was valuable learning in this process especially when the girls, Anjli in particular, realised that everything cost a lot more than they initially thought!  They realised that this was a huge job and elicited the help of two other learners- Aleena and Ash, who were very helpful, collaborative and supportive- though with the six of them in the kitchen it got a touch noisy!  On the day of the sale, the girls had help from Mrs Doidge and Mr Dyer and the lines were literally out the door.  There was some excellent forethought in having learners pre-order so they could anticipate how much of everything to make.  Through this process the girls learned how to use the iExplore Leanring Model document to track their progress and receive feedback to grow their capabilities and connect all of their learning.

Next Learning Steps

learn to distribute tasks so group members do not duplicate tasks and lose valuable time ensure that they communicate clearly with Learning Coaches and leadership team (eg. Ms W stated no ingredient shopping until the spreadsheet was completed but the girls went shopping with Mr M anyways as he didn’t know this) finish the reflection presentation with a video or images and complete the iExplore Learning Model document- responding and actioning the feedback from Learning Coaches reflect on what they would do differently to make this even more successful next time!

Literacy Learning Story

Learning Observed

The learning observed was to write a piece of writing for a how to, step by step on how to make furniture. We had to write down the title, what we needed for the furniture and the step by step part and then the conclusion. We had to write it all down on a document and then save it into our iDevople folder. If wLearnere were doing a desk, like I did, we had to write the cuts of wood needed.

To add more interesting words to persuade people to make it. To make sure it sounds good and makes sense.

My Labor Hoildays

Have you all enjoyed your Labor Hoilday? Hope you did. 

My Hoilday wasn't that special but I'm still going to share it with you all. 

So on Saturday, my grandpa stayed home and did some cleaning. He always did that and sometimes. My grandma gets a bit annoyed. My sister and I do sometimes like to help out but it's mostly my sister but she can't do anything. She just goes around watching my grandpa. My grandma and I then went shopping for her desserts but we didn't find what we were looking for. I did get some things for school at least.

On Sunday, my grandma, my sister and I went shopping at the mall. I mean, what else should we do. I got some new pants and three new jackets. We ate McD and the food was yummy. My favourite personal is the frozen Coke. It's sooooooo good. And it's turning into summer so how can you beat a frozen Coke. We also went out for dinner and my sister and I got candy. My favourite candy was the super sours because if you all didn't know, I like sour candys. Weird right? 

Lastly, Monday was the day. We stayed home but we all made our selfs useful. Not really though. I did my Kumon homework and played on my iPad. Oh, my grandpa also stayed home again.

So even though my Labor Hoildays were quiet boring I must say so myself, I still enjoyed it. Spending time with my grandpa and nanny and also my cute sister. It turned out well though and I got my Kumon homework done.

Math Learning Story

Learning Observed

Review improper fractions, whole numbers and decimals. So we had to, like 11/5 = 2 1/5 because 5 times 2 is 10 and then add it by 1 would equal 11. Then we had to times the whole number and the denominator and then add it by the top fraction number. Like this 9 1/8 = 73/8.

My Friends 2!!

My friends are awesome in their own way, that's why I'm writing this blog. 

Jahnavi - she's smart and clever. She's the best!!! 

Neha - she's also smart and clever. She could solve any problems!

Taanvi - she's weird and funny. She gets her work done in time and as always, she's the best.

Aleena - she's fast at running. She is weird and funny.

Ash - she can make any time fun and will fill up any boredom.

Jessica - she's clever. She talks soft in her way.

Johanna - she also talks soft in her own way. She is also smart and clever.

Anjli - she is funny and also fun. She will fill up at boredom at any time and always cheers me up.

Sadeen - she may be small but she's fast at running. She is clever and is brave at sports that she's never done before.

Divya - she's good at Minecraft and clever. 

Nisita - she's sweet and helpful. She's also funny.

Vrishti - she's weird, funny and goofy. She may be weird but she's her self.

My friends may be the same. They may be different. And they may be weird or funny but they all are still my best friends and I'm grateful that I get to spend time with them.

How to make Furniture

So Balloon and Kites have Shared Writing.

We have to writie a step by step on how to make furniture.

At first I didn't like the idea because I mean, making furniture is not common.

I liked the Shared Writing when we were able to choose what we wanted to do.

I'm doings a step by step writing about how to make a Morden Desk.

We had to follow a YouTube video unlike last time where we could follow a website.

It was hard to find because as you know, making furniture is not common. 

My Hoildays

On the last day of school, I was really excited for the holidays because I could spend more time with my sister and family.

When I went home from school, I was super tried and I just wanted to rest from all of the study I did. I'm pretty proud of myself though because I've learned a lot.

The sad thing about my holiday was that I still had to go to Kumon. Kumon is my after school program that I have after school on Mondays and Thursday's. I get homework too😓

I did not enjoy doing homework in the Hoildays though but it was ok. It was for my education.

My favourite thing I did was I went to a wedding. So in the morning we went to the owners house and we had breakfast there. We also got there things with little oranges inside. We had fruit and a lot of fun. And the problem with me was that, I knew no body.

At the wedding we got these little pink and blue boxes with little love bears inside. At first I thought nothing was inside but when I opened it, it surprised me that something was inside. I had a lot of fun and somehow I did dance a Iittle Shhhhhhhh!!!!!

I still enjoyed my Hoildays though and I'm happy that we're back at school because the Hoildays did get a bit boring.
