Collaborative Community Day!
WHAT:
Today was the best day of school I may have ever had! Today was Collaborative Community Day! There was food, fun things we got to do in our PB4L groups. I ALSO got to go to a book competition, but this blog isn't about the competition, its about our Community day.

SO WHAT:
We made this day possible because, we could Collaborative with each other. it gives us a chance to!
I got to Collaborative with some people I haven't worked with so far. It gave me time and I could get to know the little ones and spend some time with them.
WHAT NOW:
My next steps are:
1. Collaborative with more different people
2. Help others out and teach them how they could work together as a team
What's going to happen next Term or Year?
Book Competiton!
WHAT:
Today, I went to a book competiton. Even though our school didn't win, it was still fun! Guess what! It was our first time there and they made a very #oresome intro for us. I felt really welcomed!
Today, I went to a book competiton. Even though our school didn't win, it was still fun! Guess what! It was our first time there and they made a very #oresome intro for us. I felt really welcomed!
SO WHAT:
We went there so:
1. We could go and see what they helded and maybe we could do it again?
2. We could get into books more
3. We could test our knowledge to see how much we remember from the book
It really tested me and even though I got a lot of my the answers wrong, it made me think more and it got me to give myself my own next steps.
WHAT NOW:
My next steps:
1. Maybe, we could have been a tiny bit more prepared and ready.
2. We could have tested each other and helped each other out more instead going our own ways for reading
3. We could have gotten more copies of the books so a lot of us could have been reading the same book instead of us having to ask each other for the book
Could we do this again?
I had so much fun. Thank you to Mr Dyer for making this possible! :)

Swimming!
For the past weeks, we have been going to swimming classes. Next week Monday will be our last session.
I have really enjoyed the classes that have been going on. I think our instructors are really prepared every session so they know what they're doing and they always support their students to amek sure they get the hang of the actions.
I have learned many actions like free style, arm circles, kicks and many more. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next week.
I think they have done a great job and should really get a certificate themselves for being great swimming instructors. They always have things they need to work on with us and they are prepared to teach. They don't need to look at anything to tell them what to do.
One of my favourite sessions is the life jacket session. It was so much fun and we ALL got to go into the deep pool. I have been in the deep pool before but that was when I did my swimming classes in my last school I went to.
Swimming is awesome and I'm lucky I got to be able to do swimming this Term!!!!!

LH3's Maori Performance!
WHAT:
Today, we practiced for our Maori performance. I went into Aleena's group and we are doing our preformance with the sticks. We got into groups so we could help each other and at the same time, practice our actions so we could be able to preform to our learning habitat and the whole achool if possible.
SO WHAT:
We are doing this because we want to learn more about Maori culture and we decided it would be a good idea to make a preformance to show case how Maori people dance, use the sticks and the poi's.
I learned how to use the sticks and the poi's and why Maori wariors use them. They use the poi's so their waists could get stronger and they could then be able to use weapons. I learned a song that was sang by Stan Walker that we released on Maori culture day.
WHAT NOW:
I want to learn a full verison of the song with the actions. I would like to show my learning and the preformance to our school so they could also get a idea on what Maori people do and what others do to represent Maori culture.
I wonder, how did the Maori people preform their preformances back then?

Limestone Experiment!
During this week, we did some science experiments. We got to choose our own teams and we would them choose a box or bag that contains the items we need to do our experiment. Margaret, Aleena, Mervlyn, Ash and I choose a Limestone experiment. This blog will show you what to do and what you"ll need to do this experiment if you would like. Its really simply and you may only need to buy 1-2 things. Lets get started!
Things you will need:
1. Garden Lime (any brand will do, it just needs to be garden lime)
2. Water (tap water works best)
3. Bowls
4. Something to stir with (we chose a popsicle stick)
5. Food colouring (this depends if you want your rocks to have the colour of limestone)
6. Black paper
Lets do this:
1. First put some of the garden lime into the bowl and add tiny amounts of water to it and stir. It needs to be like dough where you could mold it.
2. Add some food colouring if you want to create a more suitable colour for your limestone.
3. When you have you 'limestone' dough, roll them into balls or put blobs of it onto the black paper and let your stones dry. This could take 1 whole day.
When your stones have dried, you could get some normal water or vinegar, pour it into a bowl or tall glass and drop your limestone into the liquid. Watch the stone and liquid react with each other.
HAVE FUN!!!!!!
This is a great and fun experiment to do with friends and family. Predict what will happen and them see if your prediction was right or wrong.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Try this experiment at home and see what others think of it. Until next time, I'll see you all on my next blog! Bye!!!!
Designing Our Own Day!
WHAT:
On Monday, LH3 got to design their own day. We could decide what we do.
On Monday, LH3 got to design their own day. We could decide what we do.
SO WHAT:
We did this because we could then manage our own learning and our own day without giving our learning coaches a ruff time planning and design what we all have to do. We could instead plan our day ourselves.
I thought that it was a great idea because I could manage what I did through out the day. I could step times on what I do and I would try to complete what I'm doing in a good amount of time. I founded it more easyer because every block we wouldn't have to go through what we need to do. I think Miss Pearsen and Mrs Jensen has founded it easyer as well.
NOW WHAT:
I would want more days where I could design my day. I think it would be good for everyone. All of our class mates could plan and design their and they would know what they need to do.
A Visit to a Science Road-Show!
WHAT:
During the week, LH1, LH2, LH3 and LH4 went to a Science Road-Show. We got to watch a show and got to test out the experiments that were step up in the hall. Some of the students that went to the school helped us out and took lead of each station.

SO WHAT:
We went to learn about science. In LH3, we did a day of experiments. My group did a limestone experiment. We made limestone using garden lime soil. At the end, we would drop the stone into water or vinegar and watch the limestone react with the water or vinegar. Right now, we are letting our stones dry and I'm exicted to see the reaction!
I learned that anything could be a experiment. I predict that the limestone would react to the vinegar more because vinegar has this kind of acid that reacts to things more.
WHAT NOW:
We still need to complete our experiment but that's coming up.
I want to learn why limestone reacts to the water or vinegar after our experiment. What properties does the garden lime have that could react and make a science change.
I would like to explore the world of science. What other experiments could I do next?

SOIL!
What:
So What:
The purpose of this was for science purposes. This also gives a better understanding of soil. We could do experiments with soil. We have to grow fruits and vegetables with soil. It also shows us that we could experience now types of science themed projects. We also had to be Collaborative in our groups. Working together to make it happened.
Now What:
Well, we are going to let our soil experiment work its magic for 1-2 weeks and we will check back on it.
The learning I got out of this is, your could do any science experiment out of soil, out of water or even eggs. This gave me a better understanding of how bacteria could grow. We can't see the bacteria but we may still know that its there. On our skin, on our dishes. Anything.
I would like to learn:
Question: How does soil create more bacteria over time?
